Nestling on the edge of the Scottish Borders in the charming Lanarkshire town of Biggar, this late Victorian home has been fully eco-refurbished and extended to the rear, adding four luxury, purpose built double bedrooms with en-suites and a new guest dining room specially for our bed and breakfast guests.The aim has been to provide relaxing, boutique style rooms with stylish contemporary decor and really comfortable beds. Three rooms have Kingsize beds, the fourth has twin single beds. All rooms have WiFi, HD LED TVs and tea and coffee making facilities.A wide selection of delicious breakfasts is included in our prices and is served from 7.30am each morning. The choice includes the usual range of cereals, yoghurt and chilled fruit juices plus a choice of six freshly prepared meals, ranging from the traditional full Scottish breakfast to the less calorific fresh fruit with toasted nuts and seeds, or scrambled egg with Scottish smoked salmon, served on a toasted American bagel.Elmsleigh is just a two minute walk from Biggar High street, where you will find a host of interesting privately owned shops, pubs and restaurants, along with the renowned Biggar Museums and Corn Exchange building with its regular theatre, music and cinema offerings. We are also ideally situated for cycling, walking, fishing and golfing enthusiasts. Other sites of interests within a 30 minute ride include New Lanark Historic Village, The Falls of Clyde, Carmichael Visitor Centre and Venison farm, Dawyck Botanic Gardens, and Stobo Health Spa and Gardens.Biggar is on the main A702 artery road from the M74 towards Edinburgh.Elmsleigh is a non-smoking establishment.

Directions

Elmsleigh, 11 Broughton Rd is about 100m off the main A702 road linking the M74 from England to the city of Edinburgh. If travelling North on the M74 take junction 13 sign posted A702 Edinburgh A73 Lanark. Biggar is about 12 miles distant on the A702, taking approximately 19mins in the car. Once in Biggar, pass through the centre of the town, then turn right before leaving the town, opposite the police station, signposted to Broughton. If travelling from Edinburgh on the A720 by-pass road, look for the A702 junction signposted Carlisle. From here it is about 24 miles and takes about 34 minutes in the car. If travelling by bus from Edinburgh, you will need to catch the 100, 101 or 102 bus from St Andrew's Square bus station, with the journey normally taking about 1 hour. Unfortunately there is no train service to Biggar, so train journeys could only be from Glasgow to Lanark (About 1 hour) and then a 30 minute bus journey on the 191 from St Vincent Place, Lanark to Biggar.The nearest airport is Edinburgh, where a shuttle bus (or high speed tram service soon), will take you into the city centre and then from St Andrew's Square bus station, to BIggar on the 100, 101 or 102 as detailed above.
